Netherlands-CGIAR partnership launches call to fund senior CGIAR experts
Within the framework of the Netherlands – CGIAR partnership, a call for Senior Expert Candidates has been launched. Senior experts employed by Dutch research organizations and involved in CGIAR research or management, are offered a chance to spend (more) time on their CGIAR activities, since they will be able to apply for a grant that enables them to cover part of their personnel costs. Deadline for the first assessment round is July 5, 2018.
The Netherlands – CGIAR partnership enhances international agricultural research in view of contributing to transformational change in agriculture around the world by advancing food system knowledge and joint public and private innovation. It is aimed at facilitating successful partnering between CGIAR Research Programs (CRPs), CGIAR platforms, and CGIAR Centers and Dutch research organizations and stakeholders from the public and private sector, both for-profit and not-for-profit.
The call for Senior Experts
This call for Senior Experts aims to contribute to the mutual benefit of partnering by supporting the participation of Dutch research organizations in the CGIAR. It funds part of the personnel costs of Senior Experts, employed at a Dutch research organization participating in a CGIAR Research Program (CRP) or Platform. These should have linkages to one or more of the following knowledge domains:
- Agriculture for nutrition and health;
- Sustainable and inclusive value chains and sectors;
- Genetic improvement and propagation materials;
- Climate smart agriculture.
The Senior Expert Programme (SEP) is one of the four instruments in the Netherlands (NL) – CGIAR research programme and has a maximum budget of 2.95 Million euros. It is continuously open until Thursday 27 February 2020, or earlier in case the remaining budget is not sufficient. The first assessment round starts on Thursday July 5, 2018.
This call for SEP candidates is implemented in close collaboration with the CGIAR and with the Dutch Ministries of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) and of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality (LNV), as well as the Food & Business Knowledge Platform (F&BKP). The SEP call and other instruments of the NL-CGIAR research programme are funded by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs and implemented through NWO-WOTRO Science for Global Development.
